It’s Official! Roderick is Your Saviour!

When a guy swallows swords, escapes bonds, manipulates fire as if it were water and bends metal with his mind, his status as a recognized cult leader is pretty much assured given time and consistent effort.

I’ve never aspired to such status, but I decided long ago that if it were to happen, I’d gracefully let the rumor run its course. Imagine my surprise when today, while browsing over my web site statistics, I discovered consistent hits from a site entitled GodCentral.com. I cruised on over to see what the big attraction for this group of skeptical Christians was, and low and behold I discover a large picture of me entitled “Another Picture of a Prophet” filed under the “Difficult Questions Concerning Christianity” section!

So there we have it, I am both a difficult question faced by the Christian skeptics as well as a prophet! I can sleep soundly tonight, knowing that I’ve done my job well.

Phillips Exeter Academy

From one of the most prestigious private schools in the nation, boasting some of the most intelligent students in the world, I did not expect also to find the most energetic and boisterous audience. Yet that was exactly what I found at Phillips Exeter Academy last Saturday.

Performing for such a wild bunch of people made for a highly charged and hilarious show. The students were sure to get involved in absolutely everything, and insisted on forging their own path during many of the routines, which created wonderful opportunities for impromptu ad-libs and humour, as well as some startling revelations. They were a responsive, outgoing and appreciative audience who were impressed and respectful enough to show their appreciation by giving me a standing ovation after the sword swallow. The things I do for you people!

I’m looking forward to bringing more entertainment to this wonderful school in the future. I wonder if their rival, Phillips Andover, would give me a standing ovation…

Discovery Channel Filming

I worked last week with an Australian production company to film a documentary for a Discovery Channel special to be aired in 2005.

The theme is centered around the swallowing of unusual objects, and I was featured for unusual sword swallowing ability.

I underwent a number of medical procedures, including endoscopy (swallowing a camera) and fluoroscopy (video xray) while swallowing a sword.

The procedures and the filming where very exciting, and I can’t say enough good things about the crew. They were superb!

I will post more details regarding the documentary as the air date approaches.

Norwich University

Thirteen hours round trip on the road for this show and it was worth every minute! And this was the first time that I have had students march to my show!

What an exciting, hilarious and appreciative group of students! I had such a fun time on stage with you folks, and I think that I got to laugh as much as you did!

Many, many thanks go to the students who organized the recon mission and recovered my car keys. Military training comes in handy in all aspects of life. These students managed to sneak into the performance area and get underneath the stage under intense heat while another show was underway. They recovered my car keys (how they got there I don’t know!) and managed to get out of there without being seen by a single soul. And people think that what I do is amazing!
