A Note of Thanks
April 12th, 2003 by Roderick RussellI would like to take a moment to extend my deepest thanks to all those who attended the Fease Research Labs event on April the 10th. I played a comparatively small part in the evenings entertainment, doing a small sword swallowing routine (repeated by request at the end of the evening) and some roving psychological magic, but the environment highly promoted a genuine interaction with those in attendance. And genuine interaction is certainly what I found!
Never before have I had such a wonderfully curious audience asking such well thought out questions. Through my interactions with the many wonderful people that I met, I was encouraged to dig deep into my own reasons for performing the acts that I do, and was forced to face the many difficult questions, and further, to provide answers to those same questions, that my routines and style raise in an audience. These thoughts are constantly on my mind, but it is not often that I am called to task on them.
The event was an incredibly personal experience and one that moved me deeply. I am usually met with curious and energetic audiences, but the level of authenticity present here exceeded all others. In the most unlikely of places, I found unique people with whom I felt a deep bond.
My thanks to you all. I welcome all and any communications from you. May you all continue to be avid explorers of the boundaries of our universe; poking, prodding and systematically working your way towards truth.
